Google Adds Reminders to Calendar App for Android and iOS
Google on Monday introduced the Reminder feature in its native Calendar app on Android and iOS.
The app update will roll out to users starting this week. The feature will also be hitting the app's Web version.
Users after the update will be able to create Reminders in Google Calendar to monitor their to-do list alongside other events. Reminders unlike regular calendar event entries "stick with you over time", making them easier to track until they have been completed. If the Reminder task is not marked as finished, it will show up at the top of the Calendar the next day. Once finished, users can simply swipe them away.
It is heartwarming to note that this new app is going to also be updated our very own iOS (Cobalt tablets) and Android (Avex tablets).
This means that you really do not have to go too far in search of mobile devices which can work seamlessly. Both the Cobalt and Avex are two of our new products that are available for tech savvy clients. For a Calendar app like the one being updated by Google, operating and using it on these devices would be a smooth experience in view of the fact that these two new devices are very compatible with updates from Google. Better still, any user of the Cobalt and Avex would not need to worry about all the techie stuff involved. The reason is that these two new products from us would automatically update the Calendar app as it gets released by Google. All upgrades occur in the background and do not interfere with your use of our products. http://clika.pe/l/10882/31858/
The feature will work in collaboration with the Calendar app, which adds information like phone numbers and addresses automatically whenever an event is created. Now if users create a Reminder, it too will show the contact information by digging into Google Contacts. It also sources information from Google Knowledge Graph to include phone numbers and addresses not already with the user.
Creating Reminders from Inbox, Keep, and Google Now is also possible. "This means you can create a Reminder when you're checking your email and it will show up on your calendar right away. Plans change? Just move the Reminder to a better time. Or if your hands are full, you can record your Reminders in Google Now," said the Gmail blog post.
The search giant this week rolled out some enhancements for its Search app on Android that provide more contextual information about musicians, actors, TV shows, and movies upon search. The search giant says the update for now is only for Android smartphones and tablets, and will be reaching iOS soon.
