Selling Counterfeit Goods on Alibaba! A tough road ahead for China's manufacturing

WSJ: U.S. trade officials issued another warning to Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd

Chinese Tablets distributor asked me: What is the way to check if a Chinese company is Genuine?

Let's talk.

If it wants to remain off the dreaded “Notorious Markets List” of the US government, ecommerce giant Alibaba.com has a lot of work to do in the fight against the sales of goods that are counterfeit and pirated materials on its websites for ecommerce.
Even though the US Office of the Trade Representative did not put Alibaba on the list, a stern warning was issued by them that the efforts of the company to respond to complaints and fight piracy are going to be closely monitored next year.
Any new mentions would adversely affect Alibaba’s image in the United States where its shares are being traded on the NYSE and as part of a global expansion it has started to cultivate relationships with entertainment companies and retailers. The company was last removed from the list in 2012.
This news is a bitter reminder of how rampant and potentially dangerous counterfeit products and piracy are to the image and reputation of a company.
